I Am a Mormon Monday: Meet Alexa

I'm Alexa from Written in The Midst! I’m a 20 year old life wanderer who loves to write about my random occurrences of life and little happenings. I'm a still trying to find my place in this big ‘ole world, but I love the adventure of it! I love all things random and crazy. I’m a lover of pictures and letters, capturing the best moments of my life. I love to write, and my blog is my go-to place for that. I love life, and I love to share mine with people! So, let’s be friends, because I would love that too!

What is hope, and what do you hope for?

To me, hope is an incandescent feeling of the soul. A feeling of trust, courage, desire, and a longing for everlasting happiness; anticipating for good through faith. I love the way Elder Steven E. Snow describes it as "an emotion which brings richness to our everyday lives." Our hearts are always full of hope, and I think that's a beautiful thing. When we hope, we begin a journey into a lifetime of good works. I hope for success, adventure, and meaning; for a future filled with love, opportunities to serve and to learn, and for others to experience the greatest happiness. Along with all the silly things like hoping to one day travel the world and ride in a hot air balloon ;)

How do I live my faith?

I live my faith through love. I consider my huge heart a gift, and I strive to use it in any possible way I can. I believe that love can change the world, and I like to think that I'm helping the world through open arms. I want people around me to feel the love that our sweet Savior has for them, and we can help them feel that by loving. I try to set an example in the way I talk, dress, and act, and hope that it affects somebody in some way. I'm not afraid to stand up for my beliefs and to share them with others. I look for the positive in all things, because I know that trials are blessings, and I strive to help people see that. I am extremely grateful for this church and have the deepest love for the gospel and my sweet Savior! I can’t even begin to imagine my life without it.

Thank you so much for having me Kimberly!

WINDOWS

Happy Friday guys! It's been a long but productive week and I am so glad that the weekend is finally here!
If you follow me on Instagram, I recently posted a picture of the childs room for foster care. When our house was inspected, the only thing we had to change was the windows in the room (the 2 windows on the right). The are custom windows and do not provide an exit outside in case of an emergency. In order for us to move forward with the process, the windows needed to be replaced and approved by our licensing agent. Of course with them being custom, the price we got quoted was almost $1000! We were shocked and thought where are we going to come up with that extra money? Well... Heavenly Father took care of that cost like I knew he would...real fast. We ordered the windows right away. They arrived on Wednesday are going to be installed today and approved by our licensing agent tonight! Once approved, our agent needs to submit us to the Office of Licensing (takes about 2-3 weeks or less..God willing) and then our name goes up on the white board as having an "open bed" and we sit back and wait for a call to come in! We are so close!! God is so good all the time!!

“Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, and
whoever receives me, receives not me but him who sent me.”
-Mark 9:37

DOWN EAST BASICS: DAY TO DAY MAXI SKIRT #1

Josh and I just got back from Lake Havasu last Thursday night. We had a blast. It was so nice to finally get away, even if it was only for a few days. I can't tell you how much we both needed this little getaway from home. I had taken Friday off of work also, so that extra day PLUS the weekend was such a plus!

On Friday, Josh and I slept in, had breakfast and then he took me out to a nice lunch and to two of my favorite places Deseret Book and Down East Basics

Down East Basics had a buy one get 1/2 off sale going on, so you better believe I stocked up on all the skirts and dresses I could get my hands on! Josh kept coming to the dressing room with skirts and dresses "Oh..try on this one" and "How about this one?" He's too cute! I love him to pieces!

Below is one of the maxi skirts Josh picked out. I love the color and fun print of this skirt, but the best part is its long....like touching the ground and being able to wear heels or wedges long......just the way I like them.

I Am a Mormon Monday: Meet Sonja

Twitter (@sonycarlson)
Instagram: @sonylise

About Me:
I am the oldest of five kids (4 out of the five of us are gingers) and grew up in wet but beautiful Portland, Oregon. But my family just moved to Midway, Utah after living in Oregon for almost 20 years. (Needless to say it was a very tough move and took a huge leap of faith!) I turn 21 this Saturday. I am a senior at Brigham Young University-Idaho in Narnia (aka Rexburg) Idaho. I am getting my BS in Communication with an emphasis in Print Journalism and minor in Photography and hopefully graduating in July. I am currently the content manager for the BYU-Idaho Scroll and love it. Going to a church school has strengthened my testimony in so many ways. To be surrounding by so many people who hold my same standards and who uplift me everyday has meant the world to me.

I am a sarcastic girl who loves to laugh. I want to someday make a difference with my writing, to change people's lives. I also feel like I am meant to share the Gospel with it, and am making it one of my main goals. I have a photography business and specialize in senior portraits and weddings. Taking pictures helps me express what the words can't, and I love showcasing everyone's beauty- because everyone is beautiful.

I love my family and CANNOT wait to have one of my own. Looking for that special someone has been a bit harder than I thought it would be, but I'm learning that that's okay :) My youngest sister is 5 years old and my best friend and other half. She looks just like me and is easily mistaken for my daughter all the time.

My grandma (or Mormor, as I call her) is Swedish and was converted when she was in her late teens and came over to the states all on her own when she was 20 to find a nice Mormon boy to marry. Thanks to her I have been raised in the Church and consider her one of my heroes. I absolutely love being Swedish, especially with all the traditions we have.

Some other hobbies of mine include graphic design (which I am also studying a bit along with my major), watching movies, singing (I was in three choirs my senior year of high school, back in the day) and social media. Yes, I do consider it a hobby.

What is hope and what do you hope for?
Hope, for me, is that quiet guiding light that can only be found through faith. I believe that hope and faith work hand in hand. Hope is the very existence of light and I have learned this through some very difficult yet strengthening life experiences.

I hope most, without wavering, to return to my Heavenly Father someday having done all that I could to come back clean and pure. I also hope to be a light in others lives. To help them see light.

How I live my faith:
I try my hardest to live as Christ lives. To be an example to others who might not have the blessing of the Gospel in their lives. I try, and it is a constant battle, to remember Christ more throughout my day. To love him more by living my faith as much as I can. I live my faith my striving to trust in my Heavenly Father that the trials I go through are for my good, no matter how hard they may be.

Thank you so much for having me Kimberly!!

SHEINSIDE: BLUE GEMSTONE GEOMETRIC NECKLACE

I am seriously in love with this necklace from Sheinside. Sheinside offers the latest fashion styles in dresses, tops, coats, pants, shoes and so much more. Right now they have their end of season clearance going on, where you can get up to 80% off with some pricing starting at just $3.99! So lets talk a little bit about this lovely necklace that I am wearing shall we??

I love the bright blue color and the geometric shape of it. It's so light weight that when wearing it, it literally feels like you are not even wearing a necklace at all. When my necklace arrived in the mail from Sheinside, I was looking through my closet trying to find something to match the blue color with and then the more I started putting the necklace up to some of my tops and dresses, I realized that it really looks good with a bunch of different colors! Last week I paired it with a bright yellow top, dark jeans and heels..it looked amazing!

Next on my Sheinside wishlist are these items:

LUMIST TEETH WHITENING GIVEAWAY

If you were to ask me, I love having white teeth. In my opinion, I think my teeth are pretty white but I also feel like they could be a lot whiter too. I have tried whitening toothpaste and a few whitening strips products that are out there, but none of them seem to really work. I haven't found a product yet that I have fallen in love with. I am so excited that I got the opportunity to work with Lumist, a new whitening strip product for your teeth that offers a more concentrated, longer lasting and adheres better than any other whitening strip that I have tried. What I loved most about these whitening strips is that they were easy to apply and mold so nicely onto your teeth. Plus, they are thin and comfortable to wear, making it feel like you don't have anything even on your teeth! I tried Lumist for 5 days and was very happy with the results. My teeth are so much whiter and brighter!

I love the packaging! So pretty!

I Am a Mormon Moday: Meet Mindy

 Blog // Twitter // Instagram // Facebook // Pinterest // Bloglovin'

I blog over at Best.Day.Ever. It's a blog about the best days, the worst days and every day in between! I guess I am a "lifestyle" blogger. Read as NOT a DIY, mommy, food or fashion blogger. It's not that I don't like those things, I just don't do those things. Okay, that's a lie. I did post a stellar recipe once. And I did dabble into some fashion a few years back. ;) I guess my point is, I rarely take anything too seriously and just try to have a good time with blogging and I hope in the process you enjoy your visit!

What is hope and what do you hope for?

" Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life" - Proverbs 13:12

To me, hope is the confident expectation that there are good things to come and joy in the journey, no matter how your days may seem. My hope lies in my Savior, Jesus Christ and that through Him I, and my loved ones, can have victory over the grave as well as victory over all things.

- How do you live your faith?

I try to live my faith in all I do, but particularly in what I say and how I treat others. A Biblical scholar once brought to my attention that the New Testament is replete of examples of how the Savior of the World always ensured that "people were more important than stuff". I live my faith by trying to follow in His footsteps by trying to always put people first too.

Thank you so much for having me Kimberly! It was fun!

CHIHULY IN THE GARDEN

Last night, my Mom and I went to the Desert Botanical Gardens to see the exhibit
Chihuly In The GardenIt was absolutely packed!! Before letting us into the parking area, the guard said that for most people it was taking them anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour to try and find a parking space.  We both figured well we came all this way, we might as well try and see if we can get one. Boom! Found one in 15 minutes! We toured the garden for about an hour. The glass pieces displayed were so amazing and beautiful. It makes you wonder how much time and work goes into making just one of these pieces. They are so detailed and delicate. Dale Chihuly's work is included in more than 200 museum collections worldwide and he has received many awards including twelve honorary doctorates  and two fellowships from the National Endowments for the Arts. His work is simply amazing!!
