I Am a Mormon Monday: Meet Annie & Torie

Today I am so excited to introduce you to Annie and Torie from
the Busy BlondesAnnie and Torie decided to start this great blog to
write and record the things that are the most important to them, such as
families, experiences, adventures, and things that make them feel
beautiful. They met in their "Theories of Criminal Justice" class
where through life's difficulties they become the best of friends.

Annie

I am a wife and mother of 1.5 kids; I also work as a Forensic Serologist.

What is hope and what do you hope for?
To me, hope is believing in anything that makes me stronger.
I hope to be the best mother I can in raising my boys as strong priesthood leaders.

How I live my faith:
I live my faith by knowing that there is always something good in the world.
I see so much pain and sorrow through my job and sometimes having faith that
Heavenly Father will make everything right in the end is all I can hold on to.

 Torie

I'm a wife, an Irish Dance teacher and a makeup fanatic.
I love to write blog posts on busyblondes.blogspot.com and doing yoga!

What is hope and what do you hope for?
Hope is the confident expectation of and longing for the promised blessings of righteousness.
I hope that as I strive to live the way the Lord would have me, he will bless me in the ways that I need to help me grow, progress, and learn.

How I live my faith:
There are many ways in which I live my faith, from day to day actions and attitudes, to thoughtful daily communion with the Lord. But loving each other is one of the most prominent ways that I live my faith.  Loving God's children is how I show the Lord I love him and how I can most effectively serve Him and help Him accomplish his work here on the Earth.  I believe that the Lord needs people to stop and pay attention to the needs, and feelings of others.  He has given me wonderful blessings through the words and actions of other people and I hope to do the same through my words and actions.

Vogue & Virtue: Modest Fashion at the Emmy Awards

When you turn on the television, go to the movies, or flip through the pages of
just about any magazine, it appears that our society has lost the value of modesty.

People dress in clothing and styles that are designed to reveal
and to bring considerable attention to their bodies.

When I choose to dress modest I believe it sends a message of purity and honor.

It shows that I have self-respect and self-control over my body.

When I dress modestly, I am saying that I posses inner qualities
for which I should gain appropriate attention and value from others.

I dress in a way that will always please my Heavenly Father
and show Him that I respect the body that He has given to me.

I applaud these beautiful women for choosing to show less skin on the red carpet.

Support Modest Fashions

Today I would love to introduce you to Aimee. She is amazing and I love her drive for modest fashion.

Aimee has always had a passion for modesty, especially now, raising four young children, and trying to lead by example. More than anything, She wants her children, girls and boys, to be respectful to their bodies, and the bodies of other people. She wants her children to know they don’t have to show off their bodies to attract attention. Aimee’s want for modesty and respect doesn't stop with her children. Every time they go out, Aimee’s husband can rest a little easier knowing she respects her body enough to keep her body sacred and reserved for her one and only. In doing so, she is not only showing respect to herself, children, and husband, but also to the other women’s husbands and sons by not causing inappropriate attention.  In 2006, Aimee was married to her husband in the Mesa Arizona, LDS temple. Because of the lack of immodest fashionable clothing, she has always had to layer. Aimee grew up in Mesa, Arizona where in the summer; you spend more time sweating than you do living. This was one of the driving forces behind her thriving motivation to find modest clothing, without having to layer.

Through hours which turned into days, the days which turned into weeks, and the weeks which turned into months of Aimee’s research, she found the price tag of fashionable clothing and accessories, was too far beyond her budget. Anyone on a tight budget should have a chance to be able to get something cute!  As a result of Aimee’s diligence, will and motivation to fight through adversity, negativity, and being told she would never be able to achieve her goal, Aimee is ecstatic to announce she will now be selling fashionable clothing and accessories at a price tag that will be much more affordable across the board!

Included in Aimee’s research, was finding what was in demand, but not made available to the people. This included:
       1. Dressing modestly without having to layer.
       2. Finding even though someone may be a plus size in clothing, their clothes don’t have to be box shaped. Instead, they can still be form fitting and fashionable.
       3. Finding complaint after complaint about other stores not having XL and above without having to visit the specialty stores. Not only this, but Aimee has found through complaints as well as through her time staking research, that sizes can change at the same store, on the same piece of clothing. Aimee herself has found this to be true.
Aimee has changed fashion as we know it by offering a range of sizes all available at Modest Fashions with just the click of a button. These sizes will range from XS to 3XL, with the possibility of adding more sizes in the future. Plus, thanks to Aimee, whether you purchased an XL article of clothing last week, last month, or last year, every new article of clothing will be made off the same personally customized sizing chart made by Aimee.

When you purchase an article of clothing and recommended accessory together, you will not need to worry about matching colors because Aimee has already gone through the stress of matching them for you. From necklaces to belts, and even men’s ties, you will never have to drag you clothes to the store again to match what they are selling and have to hope for the best.

As Modest Fashions begins to grow, Aimee has her mind set on branching out into other styles and genres of modest clothing. She is currently working on modest and fashionable fitness wear. Aimee knows how large the need is to have cute workout attire that not only can be worn indoors, but can also be made to feel comfortable wearing outside and at the store. Through her research, Aimee found that women may feel comfortable wearing their workout attire at home or at the gym because that is basically the dress code, but they did not feel comfortable wearing those same clothes at the store, picking up their children, etc. “Why wouldn't you just take a shower and get changed” you might ask? Well for those of you who have children, you know very well how fast things can change. You may be working out one minute, and find yourself picking your child up at school because he/she is sick. That is just one example of very many scenarios where taking the time to shower and get changed would be nice, but just isn't feasible.

Aimee is currently spanning out into bridal gowns. Aimee’s own personal experience is what gave fire to this idea. Aimee had to find a wedding dress that had a high enough neckline and sleeves, and when she couldn't find that, she had to alter her dress within her budget to make that possible.
Aimee hasn't stopped there. She is currently branching out into modest children’s clothing,  along with modest swim wear. Let’s face it; surely Aimee is brewing up some more ideas as we speak.
As mentioned in the beginning, Aimee has four young children. Since Aimee has been continuously nursing, she has needed to find clothing that was not only modest, but also nursing friendly. She looked and looked, but had no luck. Once again, this gave Aimee another mission: find clothing that was modest and nursing friendly. Tada! Aimee is proud to announce most of her clothing although not specifically designed for pregnant women, will be maternity friendly, and all of her clothing will be modest, fashionable, and nursing friendly!

Want to support Aimee??
Aimee has spent a lot of her patience, time, and attention to give people what they have always wanted and desired. Aimee would sincerely appreciate it if you would kindly help her fund Modest Fashions for bulk production and always affordable prices. You can simply help by providing her with a donation as little as a $1, and as much as $10,000 and getting started on your new modest wardrobe.

I Am a Mormon Monday: Lace from Love, Lace

Happy Monday to all you lovely bloggers! I am excited to say
that it looks like I Am a Mormon Monday is up and running again!!!!

Today I would love to introduce you to Lace who blogs over at Love, Lace
She is so amazing and I am so glad that we have had the chance to connect
through blogging! When we first started emailing each other, after just a few
emails, I found out that she lives in Arizona too! Just 6 miles from our house!
I also found out over the weekend that she knows a girl that my one of my
Husband's best friends is dating right now too. Crazy! It's such a small world.

I hope you enjoy getting to know Lace.
Be sure to stop by her blog and show her a little love too!!

About Me:

Hey all! My name is Lacy and I blog over at Love, Lace, where I give a sneak peek into my little ol’ life. I write about my family, thoughts, passions, and my personal style. My blog started as a family journal and is slowly incorporating a little bit of my style and fun fashion finds. As a new mom, it’s been challenging to change out of my favorite sweatpants and into those lonely clothes in my closet that I've recently neglected! I’ve made some personal goals to get out of my spit-up-mom-sweatpants a couple days a week so I can feel better about myself and so I can look good for the hubs (wink, wink)! Thanks for reading and come follow me. I love making new friends and finding new blogs!

What is hope and what do you hope for?

I often say, “I hope we get there on time,” and “I hope it doesn’t rain today.” Or when I was pregnant I would frequently say, “I hope I make it to the bathroom on time!” Real hope is much more this. It’s more than just hoping to make it somewhere in a timely manner. Real hope is so much more than just wishful thinking. This kind of hope has everything to do with looking to the future with faith and longing for the promised blessings of righteousness. Our hope can be unwavering and can reach into the eternities, but it can also help us endure through the trials and tribulations of everyday life.

How do you live your faith?

I remember on my mission in Poland a lady came up to me and said, “You are one of those Mormons, aren’t you (in Polish-not English)?” This comment made me so happy because a complete stranger spotted me from a mile away and knew instantly that I was LDS. Even though it was pretty obvious that I was an LDS missionary, wearing my black name-tag and funny panty hose, it still felt good. It reminded me that people are watching us at all times. It helped me to remember that I must set an example at all times, even if I’m NOT wearing a missionary name-tag. The best way to share your faith is to be an example. I learned firsthand that people aren’t as interested in the things you say, as they are in seeing how you live your life. People will want to know how you can still be happy during the storms of life, why you keep the Sabbath Day holy, and how you always seem to find joy in your marriage. And when they come to you and ask, you will have such great things to say!

I Love To See The Temple

One thing have I desired of the Lord, that I will seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord
all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord and to enquire in His Temple. -Psalm 27:4

The Gospel of Jesus Christ and the Temple bring unexplainable peace, purpose and happiness to my
life. In the Temple, I am reminded of my divine heritage, the covenants that I have made, and I am
more encouraged to continue on the path to return to live with my Heavenly Father someday. Everytime I leave the Temple, I am inspired to do better, to be better, to love more intensely, and to live more purposefully and mindfully in my life with Heavenly Father as my main focus and anchor.

Black & White

When my Dad was in the hospital a little over a month ago, my Aunt Pat & Uncle Jim were traveling
right through Clovis California and decided stopped by the hospital to see us. It has been 13 years since the last time we saw them! Amazing how fast time flies by! We all sat in the hospital cafeteria for awhile talking, laughing and catching up. It was so good to see them, even if it was only for a little bit. I don't know how, but we got on the topic of genealogy. She had told us how much she loves genealogy and how interesting it is to her. Josh and I told her that we have been doing a lot of genealogy work together and we have found out so much information about our ancestors. I have a lot of my Dad's side done, now I just have to work on my Mom's side. I want to be able to go back as far as I possible can. I'm so interested to be able to find stories, pictures, articles, documents, etc.

My Aunt had mentioned to us that she has tons of photos that she wanted to email over to me.
Well she wasn't lying! About a week after getting back to Arizona from California, I got to work one morning and my email inbox was filled with about 20 different emails from her with a tons of photos.

What I Made Thursday Link Up: BBQ Chicken French Bread Pizza

I have been on a cooking & baking kick lately. I love finding new recipes! I specifically look for recipes that are cheap, easy, taste good and sometimes consist of ingredients that I already have in my kitchen. Yesterday I came across Nikki's blog and saw this recipe for french bread pizza. If there is one thing Josh and I love, it's pizza!! Who doesn't?!?! Most of the ingredients I already had at home. The only thing I had to buy was a loaf of french bread (on SALE @ Alberstons for $0.99), mozzarella cheese, and cilantro. The prep time for this recipe was literally about 10 minutes and bake time is only 15 minutes. This is a recipe that is cheap, easy, so tasty and can be made in no more than 20 minutes!

Yield: 6 Servings
Prep Time: 5-10 mins
Cook Time: 20 mins

Ingredients:
* 1 (1 lb.) loaf french bread

*1 (18 oz.) bottle of your favorite BBQ sauce (we love Sweet Baby Rays)

*2 cups cooked and shredded chicken

*1/3 cup chopped red onion

*3-4 tbsp. finely chopped cilantro

*2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions:
*Preheat oven to 350 degrees

*Cut french bread load in half lengthwise

*Pour half of the BBQ sauce on the top of one half of the french bread loaf and pour the other half of     BBQ sauce on the second half of the french bread loaf.

*Evenly distribute 1 cup of shredded chicken onto each french bread half

*Evenly sprinkle chopped onion between the two french bread halves

*Evenly sprinkle cilantro over the tops of both halves of french bread

*Evenly sprinkle 1 cup of mozarella cheese onto each of the french bread halves

*Place french bread pizzas on cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes until cheese is           melted and pizza is heated all the way through.

Have a recipe or craft that you have made?
Email them my way and I will feature them on my blog!!
