Fall Decor

Fall. My favorite time of year....especially here in Arizona. After a few months of intense heat, I look forward to it cooling down a bit. I love the crisp mornings where the air is cool. Makes me want to sit outside with a cup of hot cocoa and read a good book or take our dog Shadow for a nice walk early in the morning. One of the other things I love is the chance to decorate our home. It makes me smile to come home and see my house all cute and decorated! I have added a few touches here and there, but still would like to add a few more things. Have you decorated your home for Fall? 

Head-Wear for Fall

With the fall weather comes the always anticipated fall fashion. From boots to scarves to sweaters, fall ushers in an exciting time to experiment with different layers, styles and ways to not only stay warm but to look fashionable as well. As you prepare for the cooler weather and the change in your wardrobe, don’t forget to take your head into account! After all, from a purely practical standpoint, keeping your head covered will do the most for helping you stay warm. There are so many options for both women and men (with many options overlapping!) so take a look at this list and add a little flare to your look this season.

Women have the advantage of so many cute styles available for head accessories, allowing you to not limit yourself to hats alone. Use this opportunity to make your personal style as unique as you are!

Knit Headbands: These cute accessories make it easy to keep your hair back and your ears warm without taking over your whole head and leading to the “hat hair” other options may produce.

Head Scarves: These give you not only the versatility of many different beautiful colors and patterns, but also offer different ways to tie it, giving you a wide selection in your closet without wearing the same look twice.

Baseball Caps: These classic hats are not just for boys or sports. Remember, the right ball cap can help you hide that bad hair day or come in handy when you are in a rush!

Turban: Similar to the effect of the headscarf, turbans add a level of class to your fall outfits.

Cloche Hats: These classy hats can be worn for evenings out when you want to look a little more dressed up but can also be dressed down with the right pair of jeans.

Beanies: Casual hats such as the beanie are available in so many different styles and designs. Beanies can be found slouchy, knit, made of cashmere, or even with pom poms on top. These can be trendy as well as very practical for staying warm.

Fedora: Nothing else adds the extra flash of style to an outfit like the right fedora. These can be found in many different colors and material options.

While the variety of head accessories is not as large for men, the types of hats available well exceeds that of women. Mix up your style this fall by trying a hat you have never worn before.

Ball Cap: Nothing like a classic, all-American accessory like a baseball cap to add to any casual outfit.

Fedora: These hats aren’t just for the ladies. After all, Frank Sinatra was iconic for looking great in fedoras. These can be great for both casual and nicer occasions.

Hunting Hat: These felt hats are very practical as the weather continues to cool down to help you stay warm during your outdoor activities.

Newsboy Cap: Calling all newsies! These hats are a must have in any gentleman’s closet for a fun way to mix it up.

Patrol Cap: These are military inspired and are a great variation on the original ball cap, as these are for casual wear.

Beanie: Whether for practical wear or for a little attitude, the beanie makes an appearance on the men’s list as well. Though less varied than the female versions, you can still find great options such as this one from Never Summer.

Flat Cap: Whether you are out on the golf course or looking great on vacation, these hats are versatile and are sure to help you stand out.

When it comes to changing up your look for the fall season, thinking outside the box can be the most helpful in keeping your head covered, while looking great at the same time. After all, even the right umbrella will do the trick of keeping you dry as well as fashionable! “Singing in the Rain” anyone? If that movie isn't sophisticated, I don’t know what is.

The moral of the story is to make your fall fashion fun! Mix it up with the many different head accessory options and don’t be afraid to try something you have never worn before. Whether you are headed to the park with the family or to a nicer event, there are many ways to keep your look fresh and your head covered.

Falling For Fall

There is still a few weeks of summer left. It's around this time every year I start yearning hot cocoa, boots, big cozy sweaters, fall colors, scarves, and jackets. Without a doubt, it's my favorite season! From the temperatures to the fashion to the fun activities, fall has a big place in my heart.
