Testimony Tuesday & Winner of Blue Bird Bride Giveaway

Today I am so excited to introduce you to Sarah from Just the Two of Us
She is stopping by to share a wonderful story with you guys.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did after reading it.

 Okay Sarah...you are on!
Take it away girly!

My husband, Dave was in his last year of his Undergraduate degree and I was finishing an internship, taking classes and working part time. We had been married almost one year.  Life was crazy.  Dave was studying to take the GRE and researching what schools he wanted to apply to for Graduate school.

By the end of January all of Dave’s applications were in.   Now it was time for the waiting game.  A few weeks later, Dave received a letter from the administration who writes the GRE.  They had decided to hold his test scores because they were up for review. What? How could his scores be up for review? He did really well on the test and we figured everything was fine. Before we knew it, they were going to take the scores away from him. They had decided he cheated. What!? My husband is such a hard worker in school and I KNOW he doesn’t cheat.  Apparently Dave had taken in a small piece of paper that had the address of the testing center and the room number and everything on it. He had the small piece of paper in his pocket. They found it in his pocket when he was going back in after the middle break.  The employee reported him for cheating! Our hopes were gone. None of his test scores would be to schools in time and he wouldn’t be going to graduate school with ‘cheating’ on his record.

Dave didn’t give up. He wrote a letter to the head of the department telling them his story. With a lot of prayer – Dave received a letter in the mail a few weeks later saying it was all a mistake and he would receive his scores.  When he looked at his applications, the scores were reported as received two months prior. I knew it was a miracle.

A month later, we started hearing from schools. Dave only applied to four schools- what were we thinking? Dave had amazing grades but really? Only four schools? He was denied to the first two he heard from.  A couple weeks later he was accepted to UMASS. We were so excited! Living was only $1100 a month for 350 sq. ft. apt. . . yikes! We could do it if this is really what our Heavenly Father wanted for us.  Then in April, Dave received an acceptance letter from the University of Florida. They invited him to be apart of the Hispanic Linguistics program and they offered him a teaching assistantship. This means all tuition paid for and they were going to pay him to come there. He would have a monthly stipend and all he had to do was teach one undergraduate course. I knew it was a miracle.

A month later, the school contacted him again. They wanted to increase his stipend. Double it. They asked him to teach a second class of the same course.  Teaching is what Dave LOVES. I knew it was another miracle.

Fast forward to August.  We had a fabulous time with all our friends and family before we drove across the country to our new home.  We rock climbed, A LOT. We sure miss those mountains.  We were climbing three days before we planned to leave and Dave found a little bump on his leg.  It looked like a bite but we weren’t sure.  Lucky for us, we didn’t have insurance for him at the time because we were between jobs.  We met with a family friend Doctor and discovered a poisonous spider bit him.  Not only that but he had walked through poison ivy.  WHAT?! How could we drive across the country with him in this condition? Dave received an incredible blessing before we left.  We knew it was the right thing to embark on our long road trip anyways.  Dave was in so much pain. Covered in puss-filled rash and his skin was dying at the site of a spider bite. With the help of literal angels along our trip, we finally made it to Florida.  It was a miracle.

Since we arrived here in Gainesville, the blessings have continued to flow. It is the farthest thing from easy for me to be away from home.  I miss my family so much.  I miss my Utah fall leaves. I miss my mountains. I miss everything.  However, I am so incredibly grateful for the events that have led us here.  There were so many times that we were ready to give up on Dave’s dream but I have no doubt it my mind that is God’s plan for us to be in Florida.  Through his many miracles, I know this is where I am supposed to be.  I have a testimony that God has a plan for each one of us.  He will guide you along your journey in life; all you have to do is ask for His help.  He will give you miracles.

Thanks for having me Kimberly!!!

It's so easy sometimes to sit back and later see the hands of the Father, but when you are in it, it can be so frustrating. I'm glad things worked out and they were so blessed.

Kimberly, I am a new follower! I just found you though the MMI blog hope. It's amazing to me. I haven't had time to check out any of the blogs on the list (yet) and the ONE blog I look at was yours. And I found this! A sweet testimony of a darling girl. And you are right, it was just what I needed right now in my crazy life. We knew the Lord wanted us here, when we moved here a year and a half. But we had lost that faith and SarahJane reminded me of it. Thank you to both of you, and I will be following this, as well as Mormon Monday. You have given me some things to think about, that I need to share on my own blog. Thank you!
