Layering Basics

Layer and accessorize.

By keeping a few staples in your wardrobe in a variety of solid colors and a basic enough form that it can be adapted for any occasion, you can mix and match all your accessories and pile on layers as needed to create completely different outfits. You’ll be able to make your wardrobe work for you in any situation without feeling like you’re wearing the same old thing over and over again.

To prove our point, we started with this cute but plain shirt and skirt.

And turned it into two completely different outfits—one clean and classy to wear to work and one fun and flirty for going out to lunch.
